Jotting some thoughts:
1. There is a lady at work who i didn't think very highly about when i first started, but everyday i work with her i feel like a total jerk for thinking anything less than one of God's children. She he a very hardworking person who (seemingly) does the right thing. A very impactful item learned (learning) this year is not to treat people the way you think you should treat them but as who they are as children of God.
2. As I'm getting more responsibilities in my life (family, work, bills), other things just aren't as important to me. One thing is not feeling in a rush: it is OK that laundry didn't get done this morning or the house didn't get picked up this morning. It is ok that i didn't answer that phone call every time it rings. It is ok that i drive like a grandma, It is ok that it took me 4 months to build the playground outback. It is important to hug my babies. With that said, it is still important to keep up with ones personal life for mere sustainability.
3. This year marks the 5th year since started working my career. This career has always felt right. With much difference from what i studied or work so hard to be, i do still feel this is where God wants us to be.
4. I do want to be more involved in church, just not comfortable still. This past summer i went back to Harding for two weeks, during that two weeks the Central Youth Group was there and i was able to spend time with them. This was the most effective i have felt for the kingdom in 5 years. Something is missing there i can can't quite put my finger on it.
5. Acappella: Many of you know that i worked with the Christian singing group Acappella as a sound engineer. That was one of the best experiences in my life. It set the stage (no pun intented) for what i do today. Many thanks to that ministry.
6. Family: Family isn't intended to be #6, infact it is #1 in my life. Addison, Avery, Ava and Sandi are the things i think about most of my days. Could not imagine what my life would be like with out them.
7. Spent a few hours at the Rockadyne Church of Christ "Jumpstart" youth rally on Saturday. Spent about 4 hours talking to former school mates and friends, Paul and Lee. They both are in ministry, it is so weird to realize how far removed i am from that style of thought. i applaud them for keeping in the ministry, i know it is not easy in any way.
8. Busy month: Camping with friends, Addison turning 4, working out of town for 10 days, going to some HOG football games maybe even a cowboys game.
9. Miss my Little Rock church families and friends.
10. Think Positive about everything: This is actually hard sometimes, it's like running, you have to do it for it to be natural.

Avery Ann Hixson

Today, June 8th 2009, Avery Ann Hixson was born into this world at 3:53pm.

See Pictures on Facebook or the following link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/28811679@N05/?saved=1

Public News

Sandi and I are proud to announce we are set for another child in early June! We have seen some of the Seven churches mentioned in Revelation: Thyatira, Ladicea, Philadelphia, Sardis (more on Monday)

We also have visited these other places: Topkapi Palace, The Blue mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque), St. Sofia, Hippodrome, the Obelisk, Aphrodisias, Artamis temple Heirapolis (land of the dead).

So much there has been seen this week, not enough time to really grasp all that is here. We leave on Tuesday to Greece… please keep us in your prayers during this trip.

Also it is 4am here and 8pm there, we are 8 hours ahead… so all this might not make much sense, I will fix it later…

Just some Pics

As I listen to the finished product, the return to some old-school sounds brought many delightful "flash backs." There are times throughout the album when you can almost hear a singer from years ago. In fact, the similarities are often eerie.Having written most of the music, it is not surprising to find ties back to previous albums. However, I made a strong attempt to seek variety from song to song so that everything doesn't sound alike. The versatility of the voices in Acappella make for a very fresh project. These guys are so talented and are fast learners! I am proud of my son, Anthony and his writing debut for Acappella on this CD. Melissa did an outstanding job with the engineering of this project. Kim provides a wonderful treat with some very unique photography for the CD.With Heaven & Earth, we explored new territory with an R&B influence. With RADIANCE, we are staying with strong Scripture themes but going back to a more recognizable Acappella style. We are excited about RADIANCE, and I really hope you enjoy it as well. Please pray that this project will point people to the ONE who is the "exact representation of His being."Hebrews 1:3 "The son is the radiance of God's glory."Blessings To All, ~ Keith LancasterSongs Included:Fullness of GodAll Men Will KnowTo Whom Shall We Go?Radiance of God's GlorySanctify My HeartBe DevotedTemptations of ChristLord Save MeNo One EverA Prayer of DavidStreaming audio samples will be available soonALBUM AVAILABLE SOON - PLEASE CHECK BACKA Radiance Songbook will also be available for this collection of songs and a Radiance Bible Study will be available for groups studies.

Comments

All comments on “Worship Team” can be viewed @ www.WTheotherblog.blogspot.com

So post new comments at that site… YOU also can post (NEW) anonymously

What in the World

What in the world are you talking about?
This might be the response of some people reading the previous blog. Well here is the answer:

Having a thought about Praise Teams in the Church of Christ, and it seams that there is no written model or rules on this subject (at least to my knowledge) so I thought I would write a few models down and place them up and see what people think... (I took this quote from the net)
There are many different theories on what a Praise Team does and how loud or soft a Praise Team should be, but I can sum it up into two theories.
There is the worship band Model, which is typically louder than the congregation (about 2x) this model works very well. This model also can take your congregation to a new level during your praise worship time. This model helps people in the congregation who are timid about singing out and are afraid of others hearing them sing, this will allow them to sing out because they feel that no one can hear them and they can praise God with out being self-conscious. But there are things that have to be just right. In order to have this model ones team must practice every week for 45min to an hour (regardless of how many times you have sung that song) You don’t go into a meeting with out looking over your notes with careful thought, so why wouldn’t you put the same thought into instructing people to praise the Lord. Also you need to have very good singers, to be this loud if you aren’t on top of your game you will stick out and become very distracting to the point that people aren’t focusing on the purpose of praise worship. Also, the other down fall to this Model is there are people who find this model very distracting, because it is a concert like setting. Some people have a conscience issue with this style, and may cause them to leave. The largest complaint with this is that it is too loud and people might stop singing altogether and just listen. Which takes away the act of worship from the very ones the worship team is to instruct, the worshiper.
The second model is the “filler” model: it does what the name says; it fills in the parts/holes in your worship song. If there are new songs or less familiar songs being sung the Praise Team will fill in the parts that the congregation might not be singing, this allows for a seamless praise time. This model is also called “blending” with the congregation, helping the singing to sound full and less empty. The idea is that you don’t hear the praise team “over” the congregation but with the congregation (.5-1x louder) unless the congregation stops the praise team will fill in that silence. This model is less intrusive; this allows people to focus on what they are singing rather than how good the singing might be. The down side of this is people might not see the point in having a praise team. Your church needs to decide if the Praise Team is going to be song leaders or to assist the congregation in their praise time.

Acappella Praise and Harmony

The first release from The Acappella Comany the Praise & Harmony series, this album highlights more than 200 vocalists who form the congregation for this outstanding collection of 25 worship songs.
