Sardis: one of the seven churches of Asia



These are pictures from the church at Sardis. This is one of the most picturesque sites of the Seven Churches of Asia (Rev. 1:11; 3:1-4) and the capital of the ancient Lydian kingdom of the 6th century B.C.

Notice the picture that looks kinda like a pie, this is the symbol that Christians in that time would put on the ground to show that there are other Christians in that city. This way the City officials did not know what it meant but visiting Christians would have.




This picture, with me standing in them are in the synagogue at Sardis, they called this the Torah (this is the area where the Torah might have been read)
